I have decided to make a temperature blanket.....but oh the decisions....!!??
Here are some of the choices I pondered:-
- Yarn....how many to choose from?.. use something I know or go with a new/different
yarn?
- Style of yarn?.....solid colour to give definite stripes or mottled/two-tone to give a
softer blend?
- How many colours?.....just half a dozen or one for every temperature?
- Which colours?....random choice, rainbow, blues for cold & reds for warm...?
- What temperature range?....every degree, blocks of 3, 4, 5...?
- How many rows?....1 row for average temperature per day or 2 rows per day, x1 for
minimum & x1 for maximum?
- What stitch?...dc...tr..?
- Pattern?......if I crochet x1 row per day it will make for a rather long blanket......if I
crochet x2 rows per day (min & max) it will be even longer....! So....I could do x2
columns 1 for min, 1 for max and join down the middle or 3 columns January-April, May-
August then Sept-Dec and join them together...!?
Here are some of my sketch ideas...
....and the colours I have chosen...
Each colour will represent the following temperatures:-
Indigo -2 decrees centigrade and below (far left ball)
Teal -1 0 1
Storm 2 3 4
Sage 5 6 7
Olive 8 9 10
Pistachio 11 12 13
Old Gold 14 15 16
Coral 17 18 19
Cherry 20 21 22
Raspberry 23+ (far right)
Meant to post this a couple of weeks ago, but didn't quite get around to it....so in the meantime I have just crocheted the last row for January (I decided on x1 square per months in the end).......will post a picture when ends sewn in & border added.
